Now that I'm getting over the disappointment, here's a proper post about Mass Effect 3.
Ended up with a mostly Renegade, shacked up with Liara, cured the Genophage, sided with the Geth. I got the red explosions because I couldn't remember what each of them correlated to - turns out I actually meant to pick the blue explosions. Oh well!
fyi my headcanon re the ending is totally that it cuts off with dying Shep and Anderson watching Hackett save the universe. You can even optionally believe that one/both of them live, if you don't like bittersweet endings! I seriously thought it was gonna cut off there, and then it just... kept... going. D:
♥ KAIIIIDAAAAAN LIAAAARAAAA GARRUSSSS. AND ALL THE REST. So many awesome characters. Got especially irrationally attached to Bailey and Cortez. To the point where I was like at the end "BUT OMG IS CORTEZ DEAD? ;;".
♥ some of the death scenes were super ridiculous sad. MORDIN ILU ;; And Tali! I'm really sorry I made you kill yourself D:maybe your commanders shouldn't have been such fucking morons
♥ gonna say that the Shep/Anderson/Illusive stand-off at the end was actually pretty fucking sweet. Anderson in general was awesome.
♥ Really impressed at a lot of the detail and depth in the ambient conversations. PTSD Asari was my favourite, but Alzheimer's lady/Asari clerk and teenage refugee/Turian guard were also pretty great. All really depressing though obvs.
♥ the gameplay was pretty fun! :D Still bitchy at the twitchy cover, but I liked a lot of the other stuff. In particular massively warmed to the scanning for resources system, THANK FUCK there was no vehicle section anywhere yessssss, and the weapon/armour upgrading was super streamlined.
♥ THAT ENDING. seriously wtf. Everyone on the internet has already complained about it enough, but wtf.
♥ hated what was done with some of the ME2 chars. Again, various people are already up in arms about Thane and Jacob, so I'm gonna rant about Miranda being Worfed for Hot Topic boy. She's genetically engineered to be one of the most perfect humans ever, she's basically the female lead of 2, she's a really awesome tough character in her own right, and... Kai Leng takes her out just like that? fuck that shit. :/ I'm not even a huge Miranda fan or anything, but that pissed me off so hard.
♥ Kai Leng in general pissed me off tho. gdi ME you were SO GOOD with antagonists before! Saren was cool, Harbinger was cool, Illusive Man was annoying but cool... what a massive step backwards. :/
♥ not nearly as big a deal as the other things, but there were a couple of plot threads I wish there'd been a bit more payoff with. Mainly thinking of Allers here - idk if it's cause I c-blocked her (dude, I have a girlfriend) but I waas expecting way more than the two interviews I got. It's a shame, because I did like that part. Just wish there'd been more!
I made a Kaidan playlist to deal with the ~disappointment~ about the ending, so once I get around to making cover art I guess I'll post it. I have a whole bunch of mixes that I've made but never posted because I'm so shitty with cover art. DX (Even though I 'manced Liara, Kaidan's actually my favourite. Just valued my broseph relationship with him. Next playthrough!) Ummm going to play Xenoblade Chronicles next, I've decided. It looks good. Hopefully it will have a better ending!
